Nine Pieces for Piano, Op. 1
School Days, Lullaby, Prelude, Fun Time, Romance, Goin’ Home, Dance, Nocturne, and Waltz, depicts the composer’s experiences throughout his primary and secondary educational years.
Three Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op. 2
Reunion reflects the composer’s memories of the past, the expression of longing and loneliness versus the expression of joy and happiness. Premiered by Stephanie Charlton and Chan Wei Tuck on April 22, 2007 at Bloch Learning and Performance Hall, Creative Arts Center, West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, United States of America.
Reflection reflects the composer’s appreciation towards his piano teacher’s wisdom and knowledge. This work was originally written for piano solo in 2003 in the key of D major. It was later set for violin and piano in 2011 in the key of D-flat major. This piece is dedicated to Lee Yin Hwa. Premiered by Goh Chia-Chien and Chan Wei Tuck on January 18, 2018 at Recital Hall, Block C, UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Romance reflects the composer’s appreciation towards his piano professor’s profound wisdom and knowledge. This work was conceived while the composer was tuning the piano. This work was later written for violin and piano and dedicated to James Miltenberger in conjunction with his fifty years of teaching at West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, United States of America. Premiered by Genaro Medina and Chan Wei Tuck on November 9, 2011 at Bloch Learning and Performance Hall, Creative Arts Center, West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia, United States of America.
Inspiration for Flute and Piano, Op. 3
Inspiration came from the composer’s previous composition titled Song of Inspiration for an undergraduate course final project in 2002 featuring the flute, piano, three violins, violoncello, and three percussion instruments – woodblock, triangle, and castanet. Since then, this work has undergone three revisions for different instrumentations and the final version is written for flute and piano. This piece is dedicated to Japheth Law Sze Cheng.
Intrigue for Piano, Op. 4
Intrigue represents composer’s curiosity to new knowledge during his educational years. The music uses the six-note disjunct motive unfolding the composer’s search for enlightenment. Third Degree Diploma of Golden Key Piano Composition Competition 2019 - Professional International Category. Premiered by Chan Wei Tuck on August 7, 2019 at Ehrbar Hall, Vienna, Austria.
Three Pieces for Piano, Op. 5
Dreams is the aspiration the composer wants to achieve in life. This work was originally completed in 1999 and revised in 2022. This piece is dedicated to Chan Kam Hao.
Memories is the remembrance of childhood years. This work was originally completed in 1999 and revised in 2022. This piece is dedicated to Joyce Tan Geok Chee.
Raindrop came about when the composer was practicing for a conference recital while the skies opened up. This piece is dedicated to Wong Hui Yun. Premiered by Michael Coleman on October 6, 2019 for Pensacola ComposerFest XV at Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium, Pensacola State College, Florida, United States of America.
