Three Pieces for Piano, Op. 8
Stopping Point represents composer's struggle with career aspiration and the passing of both of his parents.
Contemplation represents thoughts that interspersed throughout the work. This work depicts the point of time where one considers the available opportunities and the path to take. Winner of Free Hand 2022: Second Malaysian Contemporary Composers Piano Festival. Premiered by Maxy Chan on June 25, 2022 at UCSI University Recital Hall, Block G, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Motion marks the departure from a standstill point after a decision has been made. The opening section reveals an amount of zeal followed by moments of conflicting thoughts. The rocking back-and-forth accompaniment along with occasional discordant figures, depicts extrospection and query. The work concludes with a decisive ending, culminating the sum of all things. Commissioned by UCSI University for the International Piano Festival and Competition 2022. Premiered by the final round contestants of the UCSI University International Piano Festival and Competition 2022 on November 26-27, 2022 at UCSI University Recital Hall, Block G, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Five Pieces for Piano, Op. 9
Reminiscence, Pause, Sketch, Moment, and Exuberance represents composer’s fleeting thoughts.
Three Pieces for One Piano, Four-Hands, Op. 10
Engage, Paradox, and Enfold represents the nonchalant attitude concerning the transformation of the environments.
Breeze for Flute Quartet, Op. 11
Breeze is the experience the composer felt while being on a ship - with the ship leaving port simultaneously feeling the wind blowing. This piece is dedicated to Asteri Flute Quartet.
Sonata for One Piano, Four-Hands Op. 12
Sonata for One Piano, Four-Hands is a three-movement work. This work is a revision with materials expanded from a draft initially written for piano quintet.
